‘The New Benchmark for Luxury’ – How the Press Fell in Love with The Dunalastair Hotel Suites

When the Dunalastair Hotel Suites reopened this past May, the international travel community were quick to take this luxury hotel in Perthshire into their collective hearts.

Drawn in by the elegant, modern design and the lavish opulence of the hotel’s furnishings and features – both the result of a recent multi-million pound investment- what really made the biggest impression among hardened hotel connoisseurs were the things money simply can’t buy:

Attention to detail and a “nothing’s too much trouble” approach to customer service.

It wasn’t, however, just the guests that had plenty to say about the recently refurbished Dunalastair Hotel Suites – travel writers both at home and overseas were equally as unable to resist the hotel’s unique Scottish charms

Here’s just a few of our favourite reviews from some of the world’s leading travel writers.

The New Benchmark for Five Star Luxury in Scotland

Writing for Scotland on Sunday back in June, Florence Snead was captivated by the dramatic Highland views surrounding our Perthshire hotel, even before she arrived.

When she did get here, Ms Snead found much to enjoy, from the remarkable attention to detail of our modern interior design to the plethora of attractions and activities based within accessible distance from the hotel.

Praising the team’s commitment to maintaining ‘the benchmark for five-star luxury in Scotland,’ and the delicious cuisine prepared at Monadh Dining, the writer summed up her time with us thusly:

‘A great combination of contemporary luxury in peaceful surroundings. Perfect for a sport of relaxation while remaining on the doorstep of the great outdoors.’

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves…

…Nor do we need to, when some of the world’s biggest publications are already saying so much about us.

‘Innovative and Breathtaking’

Earlier this year, Forbes writer Angelina Villa-Clarke featured the Dunalastair Hotel Suites in her guide to the ‘Five New Hotels That Are Changing the UK Country House Hotel Scene’

Much as with Florence Snead in Scotland on Sunday, Ms Villa-Clarke found that the ‘handcrafted and innovative architectural features,’ and lavish comfort inside were rivalled only by the spectacular beauty and dramatic scenery surrounding our luxury hotel in Perthshire.

“Of course,” she says, “You can’t come to this part of the world and not be part of the Great Outdoors. Kinloch Rannoch is surrounded by some of Scotland’s finest natural beauty spots – ideal for outdoor pursuits and soaking up the true essence of country living.”

Perfect for Walkers

If any more proof were needed that our idyllic location in the heart of the Highlands was a big hit with travel writers, look no further than The Times, where Tom Chesshyre approved our boutique Perthshire hotel as part of his ‘Cool Hotel Guide.’

Though our ‘super-comfortable’ rooms appealed to Mr Chesshyre (‘expect plush carpets, marble bathrooms, and wide beds,’he says), and our ‘unpretentious and tasty,’ dinner menu certainly got the travel writer’s tastebuds going, it was our close proximity to some of the Scottish Highlands’ most picturesque walking trails that really made us such a ‘cool hotel.’

The ‘vast silvery expanse of Loch Rannoch,’ the challenge for hikers presented by the nearby Schiehallion munro and our location as a ‘comfortable base’ for Scottish walking holidays all added to Mr Chesshyre’s enjoyment of his time with us.

‘A Serene Base in the Scottish Highlands’

Last but by no means least, we come to prestigious news journal, The Week, whose resident travel expert, Felicity Capon called The Dunalastair Hotel suites “A serene base in the Scottish Highlands from which to walk, cycle, fish, or simply relax.”

As with most writers, however, there was more that appealed to Ms Capon than simply our location and tranquil surroundings.

“Over 200 hundred years since it began life as a village inn,” she says “The hotel today feels bright and spacious. My suite is plush and luxurious, with a useful kitchenette and enormous bed crammed with pillows and cushions. “

Elsewhere in her review, Ms Capon says that our Kinloch Rannoch hotel ‘feels like a modern, yet authentic slice of Scotland,’ and described watching the sunset over Loch Rannoch itself as ‘an unforgettable experience.’
