Where does The Enchanted Forest take place?

The event takes place in an already picturesque area of the Perthshire Highlands, namely Pitlochry. For over 20 years, thousands of enthralled visitors have marvelled at the lights, sounds, and colour themes on display.

When does The Enchanted Forest take place?

The event runs from October 5th right through to November 5th, 2023. It means that children are still on holiday. Visiting The Enchanted Forest is a must-do event on your calendar during the school break. 

The 2023 From the Deep theme

 

The “From the Deep theme” is set to amaze and delight visitors to this year’s stunning event.

With lights, lasers and animation showcasing bioluminescent creatures from the ocean depths and above, this glorious spectacle is set to enthralling music, a score penned explicitly for this year’s event.

You’ll be swept along a colourful pathway of greens and blues as you enter an ocean world that reveals its underwater marine creatures of every shape and size. All set to a choreographed sound and light shows like no other.

How long does the day’s event last?

Each day is a spectacle of lights and sounds that ends at 10.30pm. It takes under two hours to go around the entire circuit, which is about 1.8km (1.12 miles) long.

So, you can stay as long as you like in the Enchanted Forest because there’s lots to see and do at the event.

What about food?

There’s a choice of hot food and drinks dotted around the circuit. And there’s a firepit where you can roast marshmallows, which kids of all ages love doing.

Card payments are accepted, but taking cash with you is best because the signal strength is not too reliable in the forest. 

What other facilities are there?

 

There are toilet facilities at the event, which are clearly signposted. This includes disabled facilities.

Plus, free carer tickets are available, which can be purchased when booking tickets online. However, carer tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

What about accessibility?

The Enchanted Forest takes place in a natural setting, which means some paths have more challenging gradients than others. As a result, some areas of the circuit could be more challenging for wheelchair users.

That said, the majority of the circuit at the event is accessible to most wheelchair users.

Can you park at The Enchanted Forest?

There is no parking or vehicle access to The Enchanted Forest.

There are shuttle buses that leave from Pitlochry, the cost of which is included in the ticket to the event.

It takes about 10 minutes to get to The Enchanted Forest from Pitlochry.

That said, Pitlochry has several public and private car parks, all of which are well-signposted.

The public car parks are Pay & Display before 6pm, after which time it’s free to park.

The private car parks charge £2 to stay for an unlimited time between 9am and 11pm.

The SSE visitor centre car park allows the public to park for free. Then there’s Blair Athol Distillery car park, which is also free for visitors to use.

All the car parks are only a short distance from the shuttle bus departure point.

Parking on the street is free in Pitlochry but limited to 30 minutes, and no return within 30 minutes. Plus, the number of on-street parking spaces is limited.
